Willand Rovers have made a positive start to the current campaign in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.
The Devon outfit have won three of their four League games to sit within the leading pack as manager, David Steele, looks for them to continue their steady improvement.
“Whilst we have finished 15th at the end of each of the last two seasons, there was an improvement last year as we picked up 44 points compared to 37 previously,” said Steele. “It’s shaping up to be another extremely tight League this year but we have started brightly.
“It’s still early days, of course, but our objectives are simple – score more, concede less and win more points.
“We’ve been able to retain many of last season’s squad as well as adding another five or six, including Owen Howe who is a real key capture for us.
“His goals record speaks for itself and to get him in here was a massive coup for us."
Rovers are on home soil on Saturday as they take on Devon rivals, Exmouth Town.
