Another Gulls Link For Wimborne Town

Loan signing ahead of big Emirates FA Cup clash

There is another intriguing Emirates FA Cup backstory at Wimborne Town as the Pitching In Southern League Division One South club host Torquay United.

At the Wimborne helm is Tim Sills who played well over 100 games for the Gulls and scored the goal that clinched promotion back into The Football League for them in the play-off final in May 2009.

On the eve of the tie, Sills has completed the loan signing of midfielder, Josh Carmichael, from AFC Totton. The 28 year-old had a loan spell at Torquay United back in 2015/16 during his days at AFC Bournemouth.

“Following such a positive start to the season, we have suffered a little with injuries to players in the middle of the park,” admitted Sills. “So bringing Josh in for a month is a no brainer, as he is a quality player who needs some games and we need bodies who will help us at least for the interim.

“Josh has had a frustrating start to the season in terms of game time so this gives him a chance to really knuckle down and enjoy his football and for us we have a player who maintains and improves us in every way.

“Like myself, he’s got connections to Torquay, so this is the ideal time for him to come in as we look forward to Saturday’s big game.”

The game will provide Wimborne with their highest-ever home attendance in the FA Cup as well over 1,400 tickets have been sold at the time of writing.

They will be looking to build upon their solid start to the season which has seen them undefeated in their opening four League games against opponents who are now in the Vanarama National League South following relegation at the end of last season.
