Basingstoke Town are in fantastic form right now. Saturday’s 4-0 away triumph at Sholing was their fifth League win in a row, but manager, Dan Brownlie, is not letting his feet get too far off the ground.
“This run is a good marker for us,” he said. “But that’s all it is; it’s a brilliant run, however, we’re only eight games into the season and we’ve still got some really tough teams to play.
“On Saturday our performance was as close to perfect as you can get with a clean sheet and four goals away from home.
“The scoreline didn’t flatter us; we played really well and our ideas worked well on this occasion.
“Don’t get me wrong, we were made to work hard for this win, so it makes the efforts of the lads even better.
“At times we were scintillating going forward and I suppose the only disappointment was that we didn’t score more.
“It was also long overdue for us to keep a clean sheet and it was nice not to be fretting in the final 15 minutes.
“We’re in a good place right now, controlling the things we can control and long may it continue.”
The Dragons play host to another side who have started the season well in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, Walton & Hersham, in their next game on Saturday.
