Pitching In Southern League Premier Central outfit, Needham Market, avoided a potential banana skin in the Emirates FA Cup second round qualifying as Kyle Hammond fired home what proved to be the winner away at Hashtag United.
“It was all about getting through to the next round and we did that,” said Hammond. “The ball came to me and sat up perfectly, I just hit it and hoped and thankfully it went into the top corner.
“Something seems to have just clicked for us so far this season. The new lads that have come in have improved us massively; we already had a good core group and they have added to that.
“It’s that extra bit of grit and added quality that we maybe lacked last season and it allows us to go away and battle out results such as Saturday.
“We have to make sure that we keep our standards high and remain hard to beat and score against – that’s seven clean sheets now – because we know that fortunes can change quickly in football.”
The Marketmen head to AFC Telford United on Saturday as they return to League business, where they currently sit third in the early table.
