WARE | POSITIVE ATTITUDE FROM HALSEY

Blues head into Emirates FA Cup replay full of belief following weekend heroics

Following Saturday’s heroics, which saw them come back from 3-1 down to grab a stoppage time equaliser against Chelmsford City, Pitching In Southern League Division One Central side, Ware, head to Essex this evening for their Emirates FA Cup second round qualifying replay.

Manager, Paul Halsey, admits that they have nothing to lose as they make the trip to the Vanarama National League South outfit.

“Saturday’s game certainly didn’t do my heart rate any good,” Halsey told David Square. “There were lots of twists and turns in the game, right from the opening 25 seconds or so when they hit the woodwork.

“At that stage, I thought it was going to be a long afternoon for us, but we stood firm and deservedly took the lead.

“We made a few frustrating mistakes, but so did they, however, they were able to capitalise upon one of ours to level the scores and then take the lead right on the stroke of half-time.

“Heads were down at the interval, but we all had a good chat and came out determined to just give it a go in the second half.

“When they went 3-1 up it was backs to the wall for a while, but we managed to find a way to get back into it and when we pulled a goal back, I just knew we would go on and get another and so it proved.

“We left it until the 95th minute, but it was fully deserved and financially it’s good for the club to get the draw and a replay.

“Going into tonight’s game, we know that we have to be much better than we were on Saturday. We’ll take the positives from the performance and go there with belief that we can win.

“We’ve got absolutely nothing to lose, so we’ll give it everything we’ve got and see where it takes us.”
