Positive start for newly-promoted club

Pitching In Southern League Vice Chairman, David Martin, headed down to Cornwall on Saturday to present Mousehole AFC with their PST Sport Club of the Month Award for August 2023 ahead of their Emirates FA Cup second round qualifying clash with Salisbury.

The newly-promoted club have adapted well to the demands of the higher level. They kicked off the season with a 4-1 victory over Ilfracombe Town in the Emirates FA Cup before their first-ever League game at Step 4 ended in a convincing 4-0 triumph at Westbury United thanks to goals from Tallan Mitchell, Mark Goldsworthy, Jack Bray-Evans and Paulo Ranalli Sousa.

Another commanding win came in their first home game as Paulton Rovers were beaten 3-0 with Bray-Evans and Mitchell joined on the scoresheet by Hayden Turner.

They had another convincing result in the Emirates FA Cup, disposing of St. Blazey 5-1, before sharing the spoils with Bashley where a late goal from the visitors denied them all three points in a 2-2 draw.

Another late equaliser, this time from Tavistock, saw them repeat the 2-2 scoreline in their next game as Turner scored twice to bring the busy first month of the season to a close as they remained unbeaten.

ABOUT THE PST SPORT CLUB OF THE MONTH AWARDS
In each division, the club with the best average points per game is declared the winner. Clubs must have played a minimum of three games during the month in either a league, League Cup, FA Cup or FA Trophy match to be considered.

Should more than one club have the same best average points per game, then the winner shall be declared as the club with the best goal difference (in League matches) and if that is equal the club scoring the most goals.
