Supporters of Pitching In Southern League Division One Central outfit, Aylesbury United, have donated almost £1,200 for the club’s charity partner, Youth Concern, for walking to their away match at Kings Langley.
A group of 13 walkers and runners set off in the early morning from the Aylesbury Town Council offices and arrived at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium in around seven hours, ahead of the game against the Kings, which they ended up losing 2-0.
The walk has become an annual tradition both to raise funds for their charity partner, and raise awareness that it is now 17 seasons since the Ducks played their home matches in Aylesbury. At 19.6 miles, this journey was the longest undertaken so far.
Youth Concern was selected as the club’s charity partner by supporters in a vote at the start of the season.
Youth Concern is a charity that supports young people in Aylesbury Vale, which specialises in working with young people who face additional challenges including, but not limited to, those who are financially vulnerable, have mental health needs, homeless or at risk of homelessness, young carers, ‘looked after’ or affected by domestic/sexual violence or abuse.
