There was an eighth defeat in ten Pitching In Southern League Premier Central games for Long Eaton United on Monday evening as they went down to a 2-0 defeat at Redditch United.
It was the fourth time that they have drawn a scoring blank this term and the only time they have scored more than a goal in a game was last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Kettering Town.
Co-manager, Brad Munn, is confident that if they can improve this part of their game, they can start climbing the table.
“Dominating the game means nothing if you have less than five shots on goal,” Munn told his club’s media after the game. “We got into some great areas, particularly in the first half, but our play in the final third let us down.
“Goals change games and we got hit with a sucker-punch a couple of minutes after we should have taken the lead.
“To be honest, we should have been out of sight and it was the same story against Kettering on Saturday.
“We know exactly what needs to change and it’s up to the lads to find it within themselves. We’re creating good play but we have to get shots in and start scoring goals.
“If we can do that, there is no-one for us to fear at this level. I truly believe that if we can get the top end of the pitch sorted, we will be a force.”
The Blues go to Alvechurch on Saturday.
