Tuesday’s trip to Paulton Rovers provided Bideford AFC with a rare occurrence – a League game!
The Devon outfit’s last Pitching In Southern League Division One South game came on Monday, August 28th when they won 1-0 at Exmouth Town, and they repeated the scoreline at Paulton thanks to Ryan Turner’s second half penalty.
“As you would expect, we looked rusty during the opening period, but we grew into it as the game went on,” said long-serving manager, Sean Joyce. “I thought that our game management was very good and we restricted our hosts to just set-pieces for their best opportunities.
“At the other end, we managed to create some great opportunities and should have been a couple of goals to the good before we eventually took the lead.
“Now we look ahead to Saturday’s return to home action and hopefully we’ll have an extra body or two available again to add to the competitiveness in the squad.
“A win against Melksham on Saturday will make Tuesday’s result even better.”
Incidentally, Saturday’s game against the so far unbeaten Melksham Town will be their first on home soil for over a month.
