After four straight defeats on home soil, Bromsgrove Sporting picked the perfect time to get their first victory at the Victoria Ground on Tuesday evening and in doing so inflicted Halesowen Town’s first defeat of the season in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central.
In front of a crowd of approaching 1,400, the Rouslers responded well to going a goal down early on to take the points courtesy of a 3-1 win to really get the place rocking.
“What a game to start turning our home form around,” player-manager, Michael McGrath told his club’s media at the full-time whistle. “Credit to the lads because they reacted well to going behind in the sixth minute.
“It would have been easy for their heads to have dropped given our previous home record, but we’ve got some strong characters in that dressing room and, galvanised by the backing of the fans, we were able to turn the scoreline around.
“Halesowen are a good side and you can see why they have done so well so far this season, but we were solid and switched on to get the result that we deserved.
“We’ve got a lot of players missing through injury but those that came in acquitted themselves well; this is a new, young group and I am still learning about them, but it’s clear to see that they are full of energy and enthusiasm and if they keep showing this, we will be okay.”
Saturday sees them back in home action, this time in the Emirates FA Cup third round qualifying as they lock horns with a Chelmsford City outfit from the level above as they look to take the momentum from Tuesday into the tie.
