PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL | WEEKEND REVIEW

Winning start for new Church boss

In a reduced Pitching In Southern League Premier Central programme of matches, James Fry got off to a winning start at the Alvechurch helm as they beat bottom of the table Long Eaton United by two goals to one.

Ben Cassidy opened the scoring for Church only for George Atwai levelled matters in first half stoppage time before Jaanai Gordon fired home what proved to be the winner early in the second period.

A hat-trick from Matt Stenson (pictured) saw Nuneaton Borough sweep aside Stratford Town for their first away win of the season, whilst there was also away day joy for Leiston as Wyatt Hill notched a late winner at Barwell.

Jamar Loza put the Suffolk outfit ahead only for the home side to level through Beck-Ray Enoru just past the quarter-hour mark. Jahvan Davidson-Miller then put Barwell in front only for Eddie Jackson to equalise with seven minute to go before Hill’s winner.

A goal in each half from Tendai Chitiza gave Stamford a 2-1 victory at AFC Sudbury after Romario Dunne had given the home side the lead.

The other game saw Royston Town edge past Leamington courtesy of Joe Boachie’s goal on 25-minute mark. The win moves Royston up to sixth, above their opponents.
