AFC TOTTON | MAKE SOME NOICE

Ton up for popular goalkeeper

Goalkeeper, Lewis Noice, recently celebrated his 100th appearance for AFC Totton in their Pitching In Southern League Premier South victory over Swindon Supermarine.

The 28 year-old joined the club during the summer of 2020 and quickly established himself as first choice, a position that he has now held under three different managers.

“It’s been a brilliant experience and I’m still enjoying every minute of it,” he told his club’s media. “The fans have been great with me throughout my time here and hopefully I can stay fit and rack up another 100 games in no time.

“This is a special club to be involved with. When I was with Eastleigh, I would go to clubs at National League level where the set-up wasn’t as good as we have it here at AFC Totton – we don’t realise how good we have it!

“Like most players, I want to play at the highest level possible, but so does this club. We’ve got professional people in here to help us achieve as much as possible, and the attitude throughout the club is very positive.”

Noice is an extremely popular figure both on and off-the-pitch and is particularly noted for his bravery. He has broken his ankle, collarbone and ribs during his time at The Snows Stadium.

“I just have to scratch those injuries out of my brain,” he continued. “I can’t be thinking about things like that when I go for a high ball, can I?!”

The Stags secured promotion as Champions of Division One South last term and have adapted well to the demands of their new level with five wins from their opening nine League games and progression in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday following a 1-0 victory over Berkhamsted of the Premier Central.

“We’ve had a couple of bad results, but we’re adapting well to a new League and certainly holding our own,” he added. “It’s a very difficult League to win, but I think we’ll be disappointed if we don’t end up claiming one of the play-off places come the end of the season.”

The club faces two successive home games coming up as they take on Plymouth Parkway in the third round qualifying of the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday before hosting Hayes & Yeading United in their return to League action on October 14th.
