It was a day to remember for Oliver Stribling as he sponsored Bideford’s home game against Melksham Town as part of his eighth Birthday celebrations.
He and a group of friends had their party food before watching the players train ahead of the game and then formed a Guard of Honour as they entered the field.
The youngster, who rates goalkeeper, Adam Seedhouse-Evans as his favourite Robins’ player, then watched on as Mattie Buchan hit a hat-trick to secure a 3-1 win and in doing so inflict Melksham’s first League defeat of the season in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.
It was an easy decision when Oliver and his pals were asked to select their Man of the Match at the end and they were delighted to meet Mattie and present him with his award, as well as manager, Sean Joyce and the rest of the players.
Oliver started supporting The Robins last season and loves nothing more than attending games at The Sports Ground.
“It’s really exciting to come along to matches.,” he said. “Saturday’s is one that I will never forget, me and my friends enjoyed every minute of it.”
