Winchester City front-man, Tommy Wright, weighed in with his fourth League goal of the season on Tuesday evening to earn his side a point from their Pitching In Southern League Premier South 1-1 draw with Plymouth Parkway.
The 26 year-old joined the club during the summer to add his higher level experience and know-how to the Citizens’ ranks as they look to establish themselves at Step 3 level.
“Tommy is a fantastic player,” said City manager, Craig Davis, of the former England C International whose previous clubs include Sutton United and Havant & Waterlooville. “We were pleased to be able to bring him into the club over the summer and he is getting his enjoyment of the game back.
“We’re working on getting his fitness levels back up and as they do, there will be plenty more to come from him.
“He’s a real threat and had the luck gone his way on Tuesday evening, he could have had more than his one goal.
“He’s a great lad who has fitted into the group well and he will be an important player for us as the season goes on.”
Davis’ side have taken 14 points from their opening nine League games and Tuesday’s draw makes it three League games unbeaten having beaten both Basingstoke Town and Chesham United in their previous two outings.
“Seven points from those three tough fixtures is a good return,” he added to his club’s media. “We’re certainly finding our feet.”
A home tie against Hungerford Town in the Isuzu FA Trophy is their next challenge on Saturday.
