Life is good for Needham Market right now. Second in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central table with just one defeat from ten games and into the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying after a commanding 3-0 victory over higher level Peterborough Sports in their replay this week.
“The lads were magnificent again,” manager, Kevin Horlock, told Drew Kendall. “It’s a special group, both as players and as people; they're prepared to go that extra yard for each other, so you'll always be in with a chance.
“I couldn't be prouder and, without sounding arrogant, because I'm not an arrogant person, I had a feeling if we played as well as we can and they played as well as they can, we would win - because I think we're better than them.
“People may say I am biased, but I know what I've got. I see them every training session, I see them every game, and they just keep producing,
“We now face a trip to York City in the next round. It's a tough ask, but in the FA Cup you never know! If we go there and perform as well as we can we'll have a chance again.”
The Marketmen turn their attention to the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday with a home tie against Cray Wanderers.
