Beaconsfield Town have announced the permanent signing of the evergreen Jefferson Louis, who will combine his playing role with a coaching position at the Pitching In Southern League South club.
To say that the 44 year-old is well travelled would be a gross understatement. In a playing career that has spanned just over quarter-of-a-century, he has represented over 40 different clubs, thus earning him cult status.
He has already played five times for the Rams this term, scoring two goals, whilst on loan from Slough Town and having impressed both on and off-the-field, the move has been made permanent at a club that he previously served during 2020/21.
“Jeff is a fantastic character and a real winner,” manager, Jon Underwood, told his club’s media. “He’s already had a major influence on our dressing room in the time that he has been with us.
“I am extremely grateful to my counterpart at Slough Town, Scott Davies, for making the process easy and straightforward and with him being a good friend of Jeff’s, he has allowed this to happen to give him the chance of regular football that he still craves.”
During his long and colourful career, Louis has graced The Football League with Oxford United, Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town and his presence on the training pitch is sure to benefit those players around him.
Beaconsfield have won their last three League games, as they followed up a 2-1 home triumph over Sholing, which was their first League win of the season, with excellent away victories at Bracknell Town (3-0) and Hayes & Yeading United (3-1).
It means that they go into Saturday’s Isuzu FA Trophy home tie against Ashford United in good spirits, which will be further boosted by the capture of Louis.
