Going into the month having only played four League games, Barton Rovers face a busy schedule of eight games in October, seven of which are in the League.
The Division One Central outfit were preoccupied by Cup football in September as they reached the third round qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup before succumbing to Biggleswade Town and the first round qualifying of the Isuzu FA Trophy, where they narrowly lost 3-2 at Heybridge Swifts.
Sitting one place off the bottom of the table, they are now plotting to build some momentum in the League, starting on Tuesday evening as they host Hertford Town.
“It was an incredible journey for us to get as far as we did in the FA Cup,” said first-team coach, Chris Robson. “The togetherness of the squad really came to the fore and it proved to be a really positive experience for us all.
“It has given everyone the belief to really kick-on in the League and show what we’re about.
“We’re very much playing catch-up and we know that the busy schedule of matches that we face will be demanding, but if we can start to build momentum and put a run together, we will soon start climbing the table.
“We’ve showed that we can compete against the bigger sides at this level, the likes of Biggleswade Town and Bedford Town, in recent weeks.
“Our performance levels have been generally good but we need to start getting points on the board. We’ve got a group of players together here who are capable of doing this and hopefully we can start on Tuesday evening in what will be another tough test against Hertford.”
The Bedfordshire outfit made a losing start to the month at the weekend as they succumbed to a 3-0 home reverse at the hands of Stotfold.
