It’s fair to say that Bemerton Heath Harlequins are riding the crest of a wave.
Back-to-back promotions have thrust them into the Pitching In Southern League Division One South for their first-ever taste of life at Step 4 and they have taken to it well.
Just one defeat from eight League games so far sees them sitting amongst the leading pack, whilst off-the-pitch a new Hospitality Suite, various ground improvements and plans to tap into local schools show what great strides the club is making.
Formed in 1989, the Salisbury-based club are on a three-game winning run which has seen them beat both Yate Town and Exmouth Town 4-0 as well as winning 2-1 at Larkhall Athletic.
“We have a very strong team bond here,” explained midfielder, Charlie Burden. “There’s a winning mentality throughout the club and, to be fair, we’re still on a high from securing promotion into this level at the end of last season.
“The atmosphere is really positive and we’ve taken that into the start of the season. I joined the project a few years ago and never expected the progress to be made as quickly as it has, but there is absolutely no reason why it can’t continue.
“The club is building on and off-the-pitch all of the time and it really is exciting times here.”
Their next challenge comes in the form of a trip to Cribbs on Saturday, another club who have made great strides in recent times.
