TAVISTOCK | DEARING KEEPING IT CLEAN

Two successive shut-outs

It’s now two clean sheets in a row for Tavistock goalkeeper, Aaron Dearing.

The 26 year-old followed his shut-out against Westbury United with another in last weekend’s Devon derby at Exmouth Town, a game in which he also saved a penalty.

“I have been pleased with my performances over the last two games,” he told his club's media. “As a goalkeeper, it is always nice to keep clean sheets and that’s two in a row for me now, so hopefully I can keep the run going.

“It’s a team effort, though. The lads all dig in in front of me and they have worked extremely hard over the last couple of games.

“It was a much-needed win at Exmouth; we showed plenty of energy and work-rate, which paid off in the end.

“We stuck in there to get the job done. We knew that there would be a lot of balls put into our box but we dealt with the threat and now we must take the confidence gained from this into our next game.”

A trip to Paulton Rovers awaits on Saturday where both sides go into the game with eight points to their name so far in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.

For Tavistock, seven of those eight points have come in their last three games.
