The arrival of Matt Tubbs into the Poole Town hot-seat has given front-man, Toby Holmes, a new lease of life.
The 30 year-old had been out of the team prior to Tubbs’ arrival last month but now after six goals in the last eight games, he is firing on all cylinders again and he puts it all down to the new manager’s influence.
“With the Gaffer being a former striker, he understands the position and that strikers need confidence and to play to their strengths,” Holmes told the excellent Talk of The Tatnam podcast. “To have someone like that who can get the best out of you is fantastic and it’s been reflected in my recent performances.
“We’ve changed our shape to almost a 4-3-3 with me playing through the middle, which is where my strengths lie, and I am really enjoying it.
“I’ve played every game under the new Gaffer and things are going well. Everyone is on the same page with what we are doing and training has been a breath of fresh air with high intensity and good quality.”
The Dolphins have won six of their 11 Pitching In Southern League Premier South games and face a mouth-watering encounter with fellow high-flyers, Chesham United, on Saturday.
