PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH | WEEKEND REVIEW

Plenty going on this weekend

The Pitching In Southern League Premier South saw two teams score five goals on their travels.

High-flying Chesham United were inspired by a Ricardo German hat-trick in their 5-2 victory at Poole Town, with all seven goals coming in the second half. German set the tone within a minute of the restart before Tony-James Lee restored parity. The Generals were back in front six minutes later through Zak Joseph before German extend their lead and a minute later Ogochukwu Obi made the points safe. There was still time for Harvey Wright to hit a late consolation for the hosts before German completed his hat-trick right at the death (pictured we see the match ball).

A Scott Rendell hat-trick gave AFC Totton a 5-1 triumph at Bracknell Town. Two goals just before the half-hour mark from Rendell and Leon Maloney put the visitors in control before Nana Owusu reduced the arrears. Right on the stroke of half-time Rendell restored the two-goal advantage as Ethan Taylor added a fourth with 20 minutes to go. Rendell completed his treble with quarter-of-an-hour to go.

In pole position remain Gosport Borough who battled out a 2-1 success over Tiverton Town. Harry Medway set them on their way with an early strike before Carlo Garside levelled matters just past the quarter-hour mark. Daniel Hollands notched the winner early in the second half.

A brace from Sido Jombati gave Salisbury a 2-1 away triumph at Didcot Town for whom Ben Putland pulled a goal back towards the end. Merthyr Town were held to a 1-1 draw at Hayes & Yeading United in Mark Molesley’s first game at the helm. Norman Wabo’s penalty gave United an early lead before Liam Angel equalised on the half-hour mark.

There were late winners for Hendon, where Olatunbosun Adenola’s goal gave them victory over Dorchester Town, and Walton & Hersham as Anis Nuur earned them three points at the expense of Beaconsfield Town.

It was an emotional afternoon at Sholing where Dave Diaper brought the curtain down on his 25-year reign as manager before moving into a behind-the-scenes role. His side shared the spoils with Hungerford Town in a 3-3 draw after battling back from three goals down at the interval. Adulai Sambu opened the scoring and then a Conor McDonagh hit a brace to put the visitors in the driving seat. A rousing second half display saw Brad Targett and Daniel Mason grab quick-fire goals within the opening couple of minutes of the restart before Targett scored the leveller with eight minutes to go. What a way to bow out!

Harrow Borough came home from Winchester City with a 2-1 win as Theophilus Ofori and Reece Mitchell got their goals, with Conor Lynch netting a consolation in stoppage time at the end, whilst the day’s other games both ended 1-1 as early goals from Callum Hall and George Reid saw honours end even between Plymouth Parkway and Basingstoke Town and goals just before the break from Matt Liddiard (own goal) and Joseph Turnelty saw Swindon Supermarine and Hanwell Town share the spoils.
