Coalville Town put in a performance that had manager, Adam Stevens, 'purring like a cat' on Saturday as they romped to a 9-0 victory over Berkhamsted in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central.
The Ravens found themselves three goals up within the opening 11 minutes and 6-0 to the good going into the half-time interval on their way to one of their biggest-ever home wins.
“This kind of result has been coming for a few weeks now,” Stevens told his club’s media. “The lads have been hurting with some of our recent results and punished the opposition.
“Some of the football that we played and our movement had us all purring like a cat, to be fair, and I am delighted that we were able to put on a show at home.
“As an attacking force we were excellent and we were defensively solid too. On our day we are capable of doing that against anyone. It was nice for the lads to be able to express themselves and get their reward.
“But it’s just three points; we won’t get carried away, but if we keep believing in what we do then things will look after themselves.”
It shows what an up-and-down start it’s been to the season so far for Coalville as they have won six and lost six of their opening 12 League games.
Last term they finished second only to succumb in the play-offs and it was a similar story the season before as they secured a third-place berth only to suffer play-off disappointment.
They are back in action on Tuesday evening with a trip to Long Eaton United.
