Swindon Supermarine finally secured their first Pitching In Southern League Premier South victory of the season, at the 15th time of asking, as they beat third-placed Chesham United 2-1 on Tuesday evening.
“This is a result that has been coming over the last few weeks,” a delighted Head Coach, Stuart Fleetwood, told Supermarine TV. “It’s a nice feeling to have; I’d say that it’s more relief than anything else.
“Our recent performances have deserved that. We were ruthless in the first half and scored two outstanding goals; we rode our luck a little after the break but we managed to get the job done.
“We knew that they would come out for the second half and have a spell on top, they are third in the table after all, but I was pretty relaxed until the final five minutes or so.
“All the credit must go to the players. They were out on their feet with that performance but it was a deserved three points in the end and now we have to take this into our next game.”
They return to home action on Saturday with the visit of Sholing.
