BEACONSFIELD TOWN | SETTING THE TONE

Defender James Dobson on The Rams' return to winning ways

After four League defeats in a row, Beaconsfield Town made a welcome return to winning ways on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 victory over Harrow Borough.

All four goals came within the opening period as Joseph Morrison set them on their way with an early strike before Zidan Akers doubled the advantage on 18 minutes. The visitors pulled one back through Reece Mitchell but shortly afterwards, Tom McElroy restored their two-goal lead.

The victory was The Rams’ fifth of the season and moved them up towards a cluster of teams in the middle of the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table.

“It was important that we came out of the blocks well after our last four League results,” admitted defender, James Dobson, to his club’s media. “We managed to get an early goal and it set the tone for the rest of the first half where we played really well.

“We played some nice stuff at times during that opening period but then after the break it became more of a battle and wasn’t pretty on occasions.

“The main thing was that we managed to grind out three big points and end the run of defeats.”

A big challenge awaits Beaconsfield on Saturday as they head to Vanarama National League South high-flyers, Bath City, in the second round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

“There is no doubt that it’s going to be tough,” Dobson added. “They are up there flying high in the level above for a reason, but we’ll go there and give it everything we’ve got.

“This is Cup football so who knows what could happen? There’s no reason why we can’t go there and get a result.”
