Greens extend unbeaten run but manager expects more

A late equaliser made it four Pitching In Southern League Division One Central games unbeaten for Kidlington last weekend, but manager, Mark Massingham, was not happy with the performance from his side.

Having played out a 3-3 draw with in-form Waltham Abbey and then securing a 3-2 victory over Cirencester Town, The Greens headed to Aylesbury United in their last outing and had a late goal from Owen James to thank for salvaging a point from a 2-2 draw.

“We looked lethargic and leggy and probably played at 60% of what we are capable of,” Massingham told his club’s media. “After coming up against two top five sides in our previous two games, I think that this way a game too far for us.

“The lads were upset at the end because they felt we should have won, but we had 15 chances with only three of them on target and that sums the afternoon up for me.

“We know what we need to be better at and we’ll be ready to go again on Saturday as we host AFC Dunstable, a team that likes to play football.

“Having a midweek without a game has benefitted us and we’re ready to go again against another opponent who are up there within the leading pack.”

Kidlington sit in tenth place in the table with four wins from their 13 League games so far.
