Confidence building for hat-trick hero Regula

Larkhall Athletic made it five Pitching In Southern League Division One South games unbeaten at the weekend courtesy of a commanding 4-0 victory over Paulton Rovers.

A quick-fire hat-trick, which included two penalties, from Dawid Regula helped them on their way to secure a fifth win from 11 League outings.

“We aim going into every season is to get at least one hat-trick,” Regula told us. “The fact that it came in a local derby made it extra special.

“Hopefully this can be the boost I need because I feel that from a personal point of view, I’ve had a slower start to the season than I would have liked.

“I’ve started to get into my stride in recent weeks and weigh in with a few goals, so my confidence is building all of the time.

“The team has been playing really well and as a group we’re all enjoying the ride as we push on for the targets that we have in mind for the season.

“The difference between Division One South this season compared to last is that everyone is capable of beating each other; there have been no standout teams so far.

“In my mind there are at least six teams that can easily be challenging for the title, let alone the number of teams that could consider themselves play-off challengers, such is the competitive nature with 11 points separating the top 14 teams.

“We’re on a run at the moment and building momentum all of the time, so hopefully this can continue and we can start to make an impact in the top half of the table.

“I want to get at least 20 goals this season, that’s my aim, alongside at least ten assists and if I can do that, I will be happy.”

The 26 year-old counts the likes of Roman Glass St. George, Mangotsfield United, Shepton Mallett, Bristol Manor Farm, Welton Rovers and Shortwood United amongst his former clubs.
