PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH & CENTRAL | REVIEW

Only four games survive wet weather across two divisions

The pesky wet weather meant that only four games took place across both the Pitching In Southern League Division One South and Central.

In Division One South, there were two good home wins for the clubs who have 3G surfaces with Malvern Town securing their fourth straight victory as they beat Willand Rovers 3-0. Jordan Annear headed home the opener in the first half before sweet strikes from Lewis Spurrier and Levi Francis secured a commanding win.

It’s a result that moves The Hillsiders up to eighth, just one place below Bishops Cleeve who were 4-1 victors over Mousehole. Ethan Dunbar and Toby Holland put the home side in control only for Ross Langworthy to be red-carded and then Hayden Turner pull a goal back just before the break.

The second half saw Will Turner and a second from Holland make the points safe as Mousehole’s poor form continues.

Over in Division One Central and the day belonged to Jake Watkinson who hit four goals in Leighton Town’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Stotfold. It was an early goal from Ben Farrell that set them on their way before Watkinson took over. Henry Snee hit a late consolation for the visitors.

There was drama at Ware as a stoppage time strike from Marcus Gouldbourne gave Bigglswade Town a 1-0 away win to move them up to fourth place in the table.
