Comedy Nights return as part of ever-expanding events schedule

There are laughs aplenty at Stourbridge FC after the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central club added a relaunched Comedy Night to their ever-expanding programme of events.

“We have staged Comedy Nights in the past, but it’s been a long time ago,” said Chairman, Andy Pountney, who we see pictured with the comedians ahead of the show. “We decided to give it another try and the first one has been a roaring success.

“We had a packed house to see three very talented local comedians, Jonny Cole, Nipper Thomas and Cook, and everyone went home with smiles on their faces, which is the way it should be.

“Going forward, there’ll be more of these added to our events schedule, which also includes an evening with former Wolves and Scotland international, Kenny Miller, coming up in early February.

“We recently had Alan McInally, Garry Thompson and a few of the former Villa lads with us and that too was a fantastic night with some great stories and memories shared.

“These events are an important source of revenue for the club. We want to try and put things on that will appeal to a wide range of people locally as part of our endeavours to reach out to our local community and get them involved and interested in the club.

“There are further plans in the pipeline, so we are looking forward to what 2024 holds in store.”

On the pitch, the Glassboys exited the Isuzu FA Trophy at local rivals, Kidderminster Harriers, on Saturday, but they have no time to dwell on the 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Vanarama National League club as they are straight back into League action on Tuesday with a rearranged home encounter with St. Ives Town.
