Having recently swapped the Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division for the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, Walton & Hersham front-runner, Ibrahim Olutade is getting used to his new surroundings.
“From what I have seen so far, the Southern League is very different compared to the Isthmian League,” he admitted to us. “Each opponent has had a very different approach to the game, whereas there were a lot of similarities between the styles of teams that I came up against at my previous club.
“I’ve only had a few games at the moment, so it will be interesting to see if this continues to be the case.”
The 25 year-old arrived at Walton & Hersham towards the end of last month from Folkestone Invicta and grabbed the winner on Saturday against high-flying Salisbury to keep his side in the top five.
“It was a really important win, especially against a very good side,” he added. “It was a great team performance and I’m sure with the busy period coming up, it’ll give us a big lift.
“I’m looking to the challenge that is ahead over the festive period; it’s about preparing right so that I am able to perform the best I can.
“It was a big boost to get the goal at the weekend and it’s something for me to build upon. It’s been a weird season so far from a personal point of view, but I am looking forward to settling in here and hopefully help the team.
“I’ve reached my personal scoring tally for the first half of the season already and now I have set a new one for the second half as I look to help the team finish as high as possible.”
Away games at Poole Town on Tuesday evening and Dorchester Town on Saturday lie ahead for Walton & Hersham.
