Leiston produced some Monday night magic earlier this week as they secured a good 4-1 away win at high-flying Hitchin Town in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central.
The Suffolk side raced into an early two-goal lead through Adam Bailey-Dennis and Jack Manly and whilst the home side pulled a goal back as half-time approached and then applied some pressure after the break, the Blues were able to weather the storm and add two further late goals from Jamar Loza to claim their third League win in a row.
“It was a great win,” said defender Bailey-Dennis. “That’s four games unbeaten in the League now, so we’re starting to put a bit of a run together.
“The story of our season so far is that we have been good between both boxes but not clinical or ruthless enough at both ends of the field.
“It’s something that we have been working on to improve and over the past few weeks we’ve started to see the benefits of this.
“Hopefully it can be onwards and upwards now. We made a fantastic start by getting ourselves two goals up early on; we knew at half-time that they would come at us in the second half but we were able to deal with it and weathered the storm before using our pace and hunger to catch them on the counter and extend our lead.”
The victory was their sixth of the season from 17 League games as they look to climb the table during the busy period ahead.
On Saturday they hit the road again with a trip to Bromsgrove Sporting.
