Bedford Town are top of the table in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central and also unbeaten, but they were held to a goalless draw at Barton Rovers.
Just two points behind them are North Leigh who returned to winning ways with a 3-0 triumph over AFC Dunstable as Gregory Hackett set them on their way in the first half before strikes from Declan Peart and an Owen Dore penalty wrapped up the victory.
Back up to third are Waltham Abbey who won 2-1 at Kings Langley. The home side edged in front right on half-time thanks to Rayan Clarke but parity was restored seven minutes into the second period through Aaron Eyoma. The winner came from Jason Hallett as his side jumped above Biggleswade Town who conceded a 98th leveller to draw 2-2 at Hertford Town.
Jonathan Lacey put Biggleswade Town ahead and all looked good when Jack Morrell doubled the advantage early in the second half. Deimar Cardoso Queni pulled one back on 88 minutes before a dramatic equaliser from Billy Mardell-Smith.
A brace from George Peare saw Cirencester Town prosper 2-0 at Thame United to sit in the top five, whilst Leighton Town sit just below them having beaten Aylesbury United 4-1. Jake Watkinson and Louie Barrett put them two goals up at half-time before Watkinson added his second early in the second period.
A goal from Tyriq Hunte reduced the arrears but there was to be no comeback as Alfie Powell completed the scoring.
There were nine goals in a dramatic encounter between Welwyn Garden City and Ware as the home side triumphed 5-4. Cyrus Babaie-Gumbs bagged a first half brace before Jon Clements pulled a goal back early in the second period. Within a minute, Dernell Wynter had restored the hosts’ two-goal advantage but Ekow Coker and Liam Dulson scored two goals in as many minutes to even things up.
Brad Wadkins put the home side back in front only for Dulson to equalise again. There was still time for Henry Jones to weigh in with the winning goal.
Biggleswade FC won away at Kempston Rovers. Amaru Kaunda gave them the lead but the hosts had replied within a minute through Rio Dasilva. After the break, Michael Simpson scored his first goal in two years to put his side back in front and then Kaunda rounded things off with his second goal of the game.
The day’s other game saw Hadley beat Stotfold 2-1 with Pete Rosemin opening the scoring for the home side early on before Conor Clarke levelled on 25 minutes. What proved to be the decisive goal came just after the half-hour mark from Germaine Dua.
