Greaves looking to build

Having enjoyed a positive first half of the season, Frome Town manager, Danny Greaves, is looking forward to what 2024 holds in store.

The Pitching In Southern League Division One South outfit sit fourth in the table, with games in hand over each of the three teams above them, and are still feeling the glow of their Isuzu FA Trophy run which took them all the way to the third round proper.

“Last year was one of resurrection for the club, on and off the pitch,” said Greaves. “Off the pitch, the Council stepped in to save our ground, and the CBS was formed to take the club forward, whilst on the pitch the team recovered from a tough winter of 2022 to show the type of form we have come to expect.

“Since that awful night on Friday 24th March when we lost 1-0 at Westbury United, we played 36 games, winning 21 and drawing eight. We have lost only eight in all competitions since then, with not a single home League defeat, whilst scoring an incredible 78 goals in the process.

“In the Cups we reached the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup before losing out to Ramsgate, who went on to reach the second round proper, and made the third round proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy, taking on Torquay United in front of a magnificent 1,304 fans.

“So, it’s fair to say that 2023 was some year for the club, and we will be looking to build upon it and make the 12 months ahead even more memorable.”

Saturday sees Frome host Bemerton Heath Harlequins, who sit just one point and one place below them in the table.
