This is the time of year when New Year’s Resolutions are made – and broken!
Over at Pitching In Southern League Division One Central leaders, Bedford Town, Head Steward, Eamon Murphy, is swapping his hi-vis for a running vest as he has set himself a challenge of running 26.2 miles over the course of January to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK as part of their Run the Month initiative.
Prostate cancer now affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. “That's thousands of dads, partners, brothers, grandads, uncles and mates,” said Murphy. “I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
“It was a wet start but I got in 2.91 miles on my first day; it was my first run in a while and I did it in a time of 27 minutes.
“I am looking forward to the challenge and will be giving it everything I’ve got.”
