THAME UNITED | IN PRAISE OF HARRY

Young front-man takes his chance

Teenage front-man, Harry Alexander, has been a real Christmas gift for Pitching In Southern League Division One Central outfit, Thame United.

The youngster followed up his impressive Boxing Day display at Kidlington with a Man of the Match performance in the 3-1 New Year’s Day victory over local rivals, Aylesbury United, a game in which he netted twice.

“Harry is a prime example of a young lad who wasn’t quite ready at the start of the season,” said manager, Ben Williams. “He’s kept with us, we’ve kept with him and now he’s getting his chance to shine.

“He’s been our best player over the last two games; he’s added physicality to his game on top of his undoubted ability.

“It shows what this group is all about. He didn’t throw his toys out of the pram when we took him out of the team, instead he just got on with it, worked hard at his game and showed desire and determination to get back into the team and show what he is capable of.

“I am really pleased that he is taking his chance and doing really well for us.

“It was a good win in our last game against Aylesbury United. We’ve been in virtually every game that we have played this season but have suffered by not being able to take our chances.

“We were able to do that on New Year’s Day to get our deserved reward. It keeps us in touch with those teams above us and I am looking for us to kick-on now in what is a busy period ahead.”

Thame United face another important game at the weekend as they travel to face a Hadley outfit that sit just one place above them.
