DIDCOT TOWN | MAKING A POINT

Manager looking for more 90-minute performances

Didcot Town defied their position at the foot of the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table to draw 1-1 with leaders, Chesham United, at the weekend in a game where they had to play with ten men for the final half-an-hour following the dismissal of Cameron McNeill.

“It was a deserved draw,” manager, Jamie Heapy, told his club’s media. “We coped well with their threats. The first half was even; we gave away a penalty but we didn’t look in any trouble.

“It was a good point for us, especially having to play with ten men, but we threw our bodies on the line at times and put in a good all-round team performance against big, strong and physical top of the table opponents.

“We also drew at their place earlier in the season, so it shows that we can do it. Our problem has been that we’ve only been able to do it in spells and have not had enough 90-minute performances so far.

“When you’re down there fighting you don’t always get the rub of the green, but we’ll keep grinding away. There are a lot of games coming up; January is always a big month, but we’re ready for it.”

They are due to travel to Plymouth Parkway on Tuesday evening before hosting Bracknell Town on Saturday.
