There will be two clubs flying the flag for the Pitching In Southern League in the fourth round of the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday.
Premier South outfit, Hendon, have had a number of weeks to prepare for their trip up to Vanarama National League, Oldham Athletic, whilst Coalville Town of the Premier Central only made it through to face Vanarama National League South outfit, Bath City, on Tuesday evening.
Their much-postponed clash with Walsall Wood was switched to their home ground and saw them battle out a 2-0 win in freezing conditions.
“It was good to win ugly,” said manager, Adam Stevens. “We had to make a number of changes to our team, but it worked out well for us.
“Credit to our opponents who are a good team with an excellent manager, but we managed to get the job done. We created a lot of chances and kept a clean sheet but it wasn’t a classic by any means.
“We now go to Bath City on Saturday. They’re a big club with a fantastic ground and we look forward to pitting our wits against opponents from a level above.
“My players have done really well to get us through to this stage of a national cup competition. We know that we will have to perform much better than we did on Tuesday, but we will embrace the challenge ahead.”
Having reached the play-offs at the end of the last two seasons, Stevens’ side currently sit in the middle of the table with their eyes set firmly on pushing on during the second half of the campaign.
They face a Bath side who are currently sixth and have play-off aspirations of their own in the Vanarama National League South.
