Following an autumn wobble, Mousehole are back chasing for the play-off places in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.
Saturday’s battling 1-1 draw at in-form Bideford means that the Cornish outfit have tasted defeat just once in their last seven League outings, during which time Tim Nixon has weighed in with four goals.
Nixon was the club’s first signing after securing Southern League status as he returned to Trungle Parc, where he turned out for the club between 2015 and 2017, following a highly successful spell at Falmouth Town.
“I have been getting a lot of minutes recently and finding the back of the net, which is nice,” he said. “I had to be patient at the start of the season; I came into a successful and settled team that had just won promotion, so I had to bide my time.
“Thankfully I have been able to transition into the team as the season has gone on and I am enjoying it.
“It’s been good to be back at the club this season and part of the exciting journey that we are on. This is the highest level that I’ve played at and it’s been good to test myself at Step 4.
“I’d like to think that my fitness and ability to get around the pitch has served me and the team well and I look forward to what the second half of the season holds in store.”
This Saturday sees a home game against a resurgent Yate Town who will provide a stern test having strengthened well in recent weeks. It promises to be quite a contest.
