BEDFORD TOWN | EAGLES DARE

Lobjoit at the double

Tuesday evening’s big game in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central went the way of Bedford Town as they secured a 4-1 victory at leaders, North Leigh.

The result means that the Eagles are now just one point behind their hosts with two games in hand.

“The win was very important to us,” said Leon Lobjoit, who helped himself to two goals on the night. “A performance like this has been a while in coming and we owed it to our fans after a few indifferent displays and results recently.

“I am always happy to get on the scoresheet, but it always feels better in big games such as this.

“To be sitting in second place in the table and with a couple of games in hand is a good place to be. The team started the season extremely well and it has given us a platform to now go on and ensure that we can finish just as strongly.

“This is a tough League, there are a lot of good teams and not a lot separates them. It’s still all very close and anything can happen between now and the end of the season.

“All we can do is concentrate on our own game and build on Tuesday’s result and performance. We’ve set a good standard and hopefully it will lead us into a run of wins so we can keep pushing on.

“The target here since the start of the season has been promotion and that will not change. I just want to be able to play my part and make a positive impact in every game that I am involved in. to help the club get to where it wants to be.”

Lobjoit and his team-mates face another tricky away assignment on Saturday as they head to AFC Dunstable.
