HERTFORD TOWN | LIFE OF BRIAN

Town send out a statement

After three defeats from their last four games in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central, Hertford Town sent out a statement that their play-off aspirations are still very much alive at the weekend after securing a 3-1 win at North Leigh, a result which knocked their hosts off top spot in the table.

Brian Garzon set them on their way with the opening goal before weighing in with an assist as they built up a three-goal lead to leave the home team stunned.

“We’re usually a ball-playing team, but we had to show a different side to our game on this occasion,” admitted Garzon. “Technically we were very good and created a lot of chances. To be able to do this at opponents that went into the game at the top of the table, shows what we are capable of.

“It was nice, of course, to help the team with a goal and assist. That’s 11 goals and 12 assists in 17 games, which I am really pleased about.

“As a team we understand each other very well and we’ve played some brilliant football over the course of the season, really good stuff for Step 4.

“This is such a competitive division. We’re 11th but only five points off the play-off places; there are so many teams still in contention of finishing within the top five, it’s going to be a really interesting run-in, that’s for sure.

“Our sights are still firmly set on making the play-offs and getting promoted and I want to be top scorer. Saturday proved that this is possible and now we have to take the belief gained from this victory in to the games ahead.”

Having took on top of the table in their last game, next up for Hertford Town is bottom of the table, Kempston Rovers on Saturday.
