Former Premier League winner and England international goalkeeper, Tim Flowers, has been appointed manager of Pitching In Southern League Premier Central outfit, Bromsgrove Sporting, until the end of the season.
“We are working extremely hard to sort things out off-the-field, but the product on the pitch is just as important,” said Chairman, Rod Brown, who took up his post ten weeks ago. “I know Tim from my days at Kidderminster Harriers, so I gave him a call and asked if he would come in for the rest of the season with a brief to retain our Step 3 status.
“We had a good, long chat and at the end of it he agreed to accept the position, which is great news.
“He’s an excellent coach who brings plenty of experience from both his managerial career and his playing days at the top level.
“He’s also a massive character with high standards of what he expects from himself and the club, something that we are keen to embrace.
“We have a young group of players who will need as much help as possible over the weeks ahead and Tim will provide that.
“His knowledge of the game and contacts can only help us as a club.”
Brown, who himself has a wealth of experience in the game, admits that he has a big job on his hands to turn around the fortunes of the club.
“The main task is to create a sustainable model for the future,” he added. “There has to be interaction and connection with the local community; the town is growing at such a rate and therefore it’s an opportunity for more people to engage with us.
“As a club we have to work hard on this engagement; we have to be active and embrace our local community as other clubs around us have successfully done.
“We know that we need a product on the pitch that will excite and entice people to come here, but the potential is huge and we need to have a plan and vision to make it happen.”
The Rouslers go into Saturday’s trip to Mickleover six places off the bottom of the table.
