Goalscorer Warman thriving

Ware were able to move back into the play-off places in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central on Saturday following what can be best described as an eventful encounter with Waltham Abbey.

The game was ultimately decided by a goal on the quarter-hour mark from recent arrival, Alex Warman, whilst there were also three red cards – one for the host and two for the visitors.

“I think eventful is a good way to describe it,” goalscorer Warman told us. “It’s a bit of a local derby and with both teams pushing to be involved in the play-offs, it was really competitive so it was nice to be able to emerge with all three points.

“It was good to get my name on the scoresheet, but the most important thing was the victory. It’s moved us back into the top five, but things are so tight at the moment.

“I’ve enjoyed my first few games here; I’ve received a warm welcome from everyone and this is a good League to play in. There are a lot of talented young players involved and the standard is high, so I am enjoying the challenge.

“As I say, there’s a lot of teams still in contention for a top five finish so I am enjoying the competitive nature of each game at the moment.

“I just want to be able to do what I can to help the team and I’ll be giving everything in order to be a consistent and reliable member of the group.

“There’s no reason why we can’t get into the play-offs and then take things from there. I have been impressed by what I have seen here so far.”

Saturday’s victory was their fourth in a row at home and now they will be looking to improve their away form with successive road trips to Hadley this weekend and then Stotfold the following weekend.
