There was plenty of love in the air on Valentine’s Night as Kidlington showed tremendous togetherness and spirit to play out a 1-1 draw with Pitching In Southern League Division One Central leaders, Bedford Town.
A goal with just nine minutes to go from Connor Ferguson put them ahead and whilst the visitors eventually grabbed a late leveller, manager, Mark Massingham, was full of praise for his side.
“From the moment the lads arrived, there was a buzz about them,” he said. “We were able to take this spirit out onto the pitch and we gave a really good account of ourselves against the best team in this League.
“We defended so well and took our chance on the break; the lads have got this in them. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy because we’re not clinical enough, but on Wednesday we were well worth at least a point in the end.
“A draw was probably a fair result. Now we have to take this on and use night’s like this to improve us and get us to where we deserve to be.
“We’ve been disrupted probably since the middle of November where we’ve not been able to play consecutive Saturdays so it would be nice to get a run of games now and start climbing up the table.”
Massingham takes his side to AFC Dunstable on Saturday.
