Saturday belonged to Jamie Johnston as he hit all four goals for Bashley as they made it two Pitching In Southern League Division One South wins in a row following a 4-1 victory over Paulton Rovers.
It means that after winning at Exmouth Town in their previous game and holding Evesham United to a draw prior to that, the Hampshire club have now picked up seven points from a possible nine to start to climb away from the danger zone.
“There is really good energy amongst the team now,” Johnston told his club media. “It’s been a tough time for us, but we’re starting to kick on and we’re in a good place.
“There’s a real positive attitude which is serving us well and we’re playing with confidence and belief.
“My first two goals were pretty similar where I cut inside and then found the bottom corner, the third took a little deflection, which helped it go in, and then the fourth saw me link up with Luke [Delaney] before finding the net with a nice finish.
“That’s three games in a row unbeaten now. The fans are also really getting behind us, which helps in a big way.
“With four games in a row at home coming up, we’re going to need this backing as it really does make a big difference to us.”
Bashley’s next action sees them host Malvern Town on Saturday.
