Memorable time for Marsden

It’s been a memorable few weeks for Leiston midfielder, Joe Marsden.

Having welcomed his daughter into the world, the 30 year-old then came off the bench at Stourbridge on Saturday with the scores level with and just eight minutes left on the clock.

His two goals in quick succession then proceeded to give his side a 3-1 victory to move them into tenth place in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central table.

“To secure three points away from home is always nice,” said Marsden. “We battled well in the first half and had the better chances as we went in at the break level at 1-1.

“It became a bit scrappy in the second half but I managed to come on and get a couple of goals to win it for us.

“It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet, particularly to get two in an eight-minute spell to win us the game.

“It has capped a nice couple of weeks for me. I am buzzing with it; obviously I was disappointed not to start Saturday’s game, as anyone would be, but when you’re on the bench, you have to be ready to come on and make an impact, which I did.

“I am pleased to have done a job for the team and now we have to take this performance into Tuesday’s game against Halesowen Town and see where it takes us.”
