Busy weekend ahead for Dunbar

It’s going to be a busy weekend for Bishop’s Cleeve’s Ethan Dunbar.

The talented attacker will be in action on Saturday as his club look to secure vital Pitching In Southern League Division One South points at Bashley before he becomes one of a number of Southern League players on show when England Universities stage their North v South trial game at St. George’s Park on Sunday ahead of this year’s University Home Nations Championship.

Hartpury University student Dunbar is amongst the best University players in the country. He progressed through the trials last year and is looking to make his mark again this time around.

“I'm very excited, especially after last year,” Dunbar told Paddy Gladman. “We actually went on to win the competition last year, which was really special.

“It's a great opportunity; I was fortunate last year to come off the bench and score, it was a special achievement for me personally, so I can't wait to get back out there and do the same thing again!

“To get into the full squad and then help England win it again would be fantastic.”

Dunbar joined Bishop’s Cleeve ahead of the current campaign having previously served Slimbridge and Longlevens.

“There are a good bunch of people at this club,” he continued. “I am very happy here; the Gaffer has put a lot of faith in me this season as well as many of the other younger lads.

“Our target has always been the play-offs and there is no reason why we still can’t achieve that.

“We slacked off a little bit, but we’ve been able to pick ourselves back up and now with ten or 11 games to go, we’re looking to sneak into that top five.

“We’ve got to remain confident within the group and get as many points as we can.

“I’ve played in almost every game this season. I’ve fed off the confidence that the Gaffer has in me and I am enjoying my football here.”
