It’s a big week for Coalville Town and they started it on a winning note with a 2-1 Pitching In Southern League Premier Central victory at St. Ives Town on Monday evening.
The result moved them up into tenth place in the table, but now their attention turns to the weekend and an Isuzu FA Trophy quarter-final tie at Macclesfield, where they are now the Pitching In Southern League’s sole representatives in the competition.
“We went into Monday’s game on the back of conceding a stoppage time equaliser on Saturday,” said manager, Ian King. “It was a killer blow to take into what is a tough place to go to on a Monday evening, or any day for that matter.
“To then find ourselves behind early on, we had to show tremendous character to bounce back and went on to score two really good goals to get the win.
“The lads were absolutely magnificent and it sets us up for Saturday’s big game.
“It’s brilliant to be involved at this stage of the competition and it will be a great day for everyone connected to the club.
“There’ll be a big crowd; we’ll take a large following with us and if we can perform like we did for the most part of Monday’s game, we’ll give a good account of ourselves.”
