Successive home wins and clean sheets have given AFC Sudbury real hope that they can escape the clutches of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central relegation zone.
After beating Hitchin Town 1-0 at the turn of the month, they followed it up with victory over play-off hopefuls, AFC Telford United, by the same scoreline last weekend in a result which really sent out a message to those teams in and around them in the table.
They are now just four points from safety and Saturday sees them host the team that sits directly above them, Kettering Town, in what will be a mouth-watering encounter.
“We’re looking forward to it,” said Tom Dickens, who bagged the winning goal in their last outing. “Hopefully we can build upon our last couple of results and use the belief that we have gained to add to our points tally.
“Our last game couldn’t have gone any better. To keep a clean sheet and beat one of the most fancied sides in this League was fantastic and for me to get the winning goal just topped it off from a personal point of view.
“I just hit the ball as hard as I could and made sure it was on target, so it was nice to see it go in to earn us a big three points.”
