KIDLINGTON | BRINGING IT HOME

Loan youngster bags a brace in vital win

There was a second victory in a row for Kidlington on Thursday evening as they battle to move away from danger in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central.

A 3-1 victory over Aylesbury United saw recent loan arrival, Charlie Bacon, bag a brace for his first goals for the club to go alongside the hard-working and lively display that he put in during Monday’s 4-2 triumph over North Leigh.

The emerging striker has come in from Vanarama National League outfit, Oxford City, where he has impressed whilst coming up through the ranks.

“It was nice to contribute a couple of goals to help us get the win,” Bacon told his club’s media. “The lads here have really helped me to settle in and I have enjoyed the experience of the last few games.

“As a group we’re doing all we can to stay up. We all put in 100% on Thursday in what was a good team performance with everyone doing their jobs to make it back-to-back wins.

“Aylesbury are a decent side; we dealt with the pressure that they put us under well, we defended as a team and then got our reward with the goals.

“Next up is a trip to Ware, which will be tough as they are up there challenging amongst the leading pack. We’ll go there looking to play our football, take the belief from our last two results and see what happens.”

There has been a recent change at the Greens’ helm with manager, Mark Massingham, and his assistant, Scott Reynolds, departing in the wake of their home loss at the hands of Kempston Rovers towards the end of March.

Former manager, Ben Sadler, has made a return to the club for the last three games, assisted by Mark Flanagan in a player-coach role, and he will be hoping to guide the club away from the bottom two come the end of the season.
