STOTFOLD | SNEE GLEE

Hat-trick hero Henry

It’s been a solid season for Stotfold as they have adapted well to life in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central following promotion at the end of last term.

This is the highest level that the club has ever competed at and they have their sights set on a top ten finish thanks to the great efforts of the players, none more so than Henry Snee who has been a regular on the scoresheet.

His hat-trick at the weekend helped the club to a 3-1 triumph at Hertford Town.

“It was brilliant to get a hat-trick on Saturday,” he told us. “It just felt like everything was dropping my way!

“The first was a looping header and then a bit of fortune with a slight deflection on my second. My third was a tap-in from a whipped in corner from Matt Ball, which we’ve had good success from this season.

“I think the target at the start of the season was always to solidify ourselves in the division. We’ve had our moments this year and really competed with the teams at the top.

“With a little bit more luck and consistency we could’ve been still in with a shout of the play-offs, but we’re happy with the progress that we’ve made.

“I think the division is brilliant; the standard is very high and it seems like everyone beats each other. This makes for an entertaining competition but also it’s really difficult to put a run together.

“It’s my first full season at this level and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I think that as a team, for the rest of the season, it’s important to finish as high as possible and take momentum into next year.

“For myself the target hasn’t changed from the beginning of the season; I want to be able to help the team win and score as many as possible.”

Stotfold head to Kidlington on Wednesday before returning to home soil on Saturday for the visit of Welwyn Garden City. Their final two games then come with an away trip to Kempston Rovers before hosting Leighton Town on the final day.
