AFC SUDBURY | SEVENTH HEAVEN

Josh Allen leading the charge to avoid the drop

A third win in a row has finally lifted AFC Sudbury out of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central relegation places with just one game to go.

An emphatic second half showing saw them blitz already-relegated Long Eaton United with six goals to chalk up a 7-1 victory.

This, combined with Hitchin Town losing at Stamford, saw them move up a place as they hit the 40-point mark.

“The lads are absolutely buzzing,” Man of the Match, Josh Allen, told his club’s media. “We’re on fire at the moment, playing with a lot of belief.

“Our fans were unbelievable at the weekend when we needed them most. They brought everything and helped us get the win, as they have done over the last three games.

“Now we need one final push. It’s going to be a tough game for us at Leamington, but we’ve got the confidence in ourselves to go there and get the result that we need.”

Saturday’s game will have a bearing at both ends of the table as hosts, Leamington, will be looking to confirm their place in the play-offs where they are one of four teams battling it out for the two available places.

Meanwhile, AFC Sudbury’s relegation rivals, Hitchin Town, are at home to midtable Stourbridge.

A nerve-wracking afternoon awaits where there are sure to be plenty of twists and turns along the way.
